Exploring the North Country Trail in the Midwest

Bethany Thomas, vice-president of the Heritage Chapter of the North Country Trail Association, will share a slideshow on "Exploring the North Country Trail of the Midwest" on Saturday, March 4th at 10:30am in the Mercer Community Center.

When it's complete, the North Country Trail will be the longest continuous hiking trail in the United States, and it runs practically right through our backyard! The Heritage Chapter of the North Country Trail Association is responsible for building and maintaining trails in Iron County and Ashland County, Wisconsin. They've recently completed 4 1/2 new miles of trail in Copper Falls State Park, and in 2017 will work on new construction to bring the trail from Upson to Lake Superior.

Learn more about this national trail system, its future, and how you can help! This presentation is free and open to all.

This program is sponsored by ICORE - Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts and by the Mercer Public Library
