Geocaching 101

What's geocaching?

According to geocaching.com: "Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location."

According to the over 830,000 active geocachers in the U.S. and over 3 million active cachers worldwide, it's a whole lot of fun!

Learn more about the game you can play almost anywhere at a free "Geocaching 101" event sponsored by the Mercer Library and ICORE, the Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts. Meet new and experienced cachers, learn about the technology you need, and get a chance to try out some local caches.

All are welcome at this free event. Stay tuned for an announcement about an "official" Geocaching event to coordinate with this intro class.
